A musical genre characteristically confined to the West, metal is quickly gaining acclaim in an incredibly unlikely place: Botswana. Metal’s roots in the central African region can be found with the 1970s classic rock group Nosey Road, whose influence was so profound that a studded savanna isn’t so much of a spectacle today as it is a fairly common sight. Taken in 1976, two of Jamaica’s own musical all-stars–Cindy Breakspeare and beau Bob Marley–can be seen enjoying what seems to be a pristine day at the beach. The two would go on to have Damien Marley, a popular musician today, two years later.
